Seven Ways to Book the Bay

Every session below runs the same method — opening zero pass, geometry before components, closing zero pass, written sheet. What changes is which club is on the bench and which of the three gauges does the heavy lifting.

When One Club Is the Problem

Most golfers do not need a full rebuild. They need one club in the bag to stop being the reason a round falls apart.

75 minutes

Driver Gauge Session

Face tape goes on before anything else. We build a strike map, score each candidate on how much speed it holds outside the middle, and only then talk about loft and spin.

  • Strike map across 25–30 shots
  • Length and lie adjustment on your current head
  • Three to four candidate heads

Fairway Wood Gauge Session

Fairway woods live or die on ground contact. We start on turf, not a tee, because that is where the club has to work and that is where most of them fail.

  • Turf contact from a real hitting surface
  • Sole width and leading-edge height compared
  • Gapping checked against your driver and longest iron

Hybrid Gauge Session

A hybrid only earns its slot if it fills a real distance gap and looks like it belongs next to the clubs on either side of it. We test both.

  • Gap measured before the club is chosen
  • Address geometry matched to your irons
  • Shaft profile bridged across the two sets

Wedge Gauge Session

We record divot geometry from your current wedges first, then match sole shape to the courses you actually play rather than to a grind chart.

  • Divot depth, direction and taper logged
  • Two to four wedges specified
  • Loft ladder checked into the set

Putter Gauge Session

Length and lie come from where your eyes sit and how your forearms hang. Head shape and face balance follow the arc, not the other way round.

  • Eye-line position measured over the ball
  • Stroke arc traced across 40 putts
  • Loft at impact and roll onset checked

2 hours

Iron Gauge Session

The set is fitted as a set. Progression, lie and shaft weight are checked at three points in the ladder so the middle irons do not become strangers.

  • Long, middle and short iron all measured
  • Lie tape on a board, not guesswork
  • Loft ladder mapped end to end

The Full Bag Audit

Three and a half hours, split across two visits if you would rather not swing that much in one afternoon. We measure every club you own before we discuss replacing any of them, and a good number of audits end with more clubs adjusted than bought.

You leave with a spreadsheet of your existing bag — loft, lie, length, swing weight, grip size and shaft model for every club — alongside the session sheet showing which of them are pulling in the wrong direction. Plenty of clients treat that document as the real deliverable.

Adjustments That Do Not Need a Full Session

Loft and Lie Re-check

Forged irons move. A season of firm ground and range mats will pull a set out of specification by a degree or more without anyone noticing. Bring the set in and we will put every head on the machine and hand you a before-and-after sheet.

Regripping

Grip size changes hand action more than most golfers expect, so we measure your hand and glove size rather than defaulting to standard. Same-day turnaround on anything we stock.

Shaft Pull and Re-fit

If a shaft is right and the head is not, there is no reason to throw the shaft away. We pull, clean and re-install into a new head with the swing weight restored.

Length and Swing Weight

Trimming half an inch changes swing weight by about three points. We correct for it at the same time, so shortening a club does not quietly turn it into a different club.

Not Sure Which Session You Need?

Ring the studio and talk us through whichever shot keeps showing up on your card. A minute and a half is usually enough to settle it, and nobody here minds saying that the honest answer is to hold off for now.
